India buys 5 million barrels from US and Middle East

India’s two state-owned oil refineries — Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd — have purchased 5 million barrels of crude oil from the US and the Middle East.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters sources, that Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd bought 2 million barrels of Texas and Abu Dhabi’s Murban crude for January delivery.

Meanwhile, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd purchased 1 million barrels of Iraq’s Basra Medium crude for delivery between January 1 and 7.

The refineries are seeking alternatives to Russian supplies, as both companies have halted purchases of Russian oil due to sanction risks.
