Merz isolated in Europe over frozen Russian assets

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has been isolated among Europeans for his stance on frozen Russian assets.

Axar.az informs that the Berliner Zeitung newspaper reported on this.

According to the publication, Merz tried to extol the benefits of the de facto confiscation of Russian assets and minimize the risks until the end.

However, the publication recalled that within a few weeks, warnings against such a step have increased from the Euroclear depository, where most of Russia's frozen funds are stored, to the European Central Bank, and from Washington to Beijing.

The article emphasizes that the chancellor "made the wrong bet" and suffered defeat.
