The crew of the Marinera oil tanker, which was seized by the United States, consists of 28 people: 20 Ukrainians, 6 Georgians (including the captain), and 2 Russians.

Axar.az informs according to information circulated on Russian Telegram channels, the tanker initially sailed under the flag of Guyana.

“The U.S. Coast Guard demanded that the tanker head to a U.S. port, claiming it had not received confirmation from the Guyana authorities to fly their flag. However, the vessel changed course and sailed from the Venezuelan coast into the Atlantic Ocean. Later, the captain changed the tanker’s name and obtained temporary registration under the Russian flag from the port of Sochi. The U.S. Coast Guard pursued the tanker for more than two weeks,” the report said.
