Turkish Airlines flight lands safely in Barcelona after threat

A Turkish ‍Airlines flight landed safely after ‍the crew detected that a passenger had created an in-flight ⁠internet hotspot and named it to include a bomb threat as the aircraft approached Barcelona.

Axar.az informs Yahya Ustun, the company’s head ‍of communications, shared this informaion on X.

"During our flight TK1853 from Istanbul to Barcelona, as the aircraft was approaching Barcelona, it was discovered that a passenger had created an in-flight Wi-Fi access point with a network name containing a bomb threat. Necessary procedures were immediately initiated in line with flight safety protocols.

After the aircraft landed safely, inspections are being carried out by the relevant authorities of the country. The process is being conducted in accordance with international aviation safety regulations," he noted.
