Macron calls for European hypersonic missile system

France and Europe as a whole should create a missile system similar to the Russian hypersonic missile system "Oreshnik".

Axar.az reports that French President Emmanuel Macron said this while addressing the military at the Istres Air Base on January 15.

Macron stressed that France is within the range of the "Oreshnik" missile:

"We must acquire similar weapons in the near future."

Macron noted that France plans to increase its military budget to 64 billion euros by 2027. The French President also emphasized that the European air defense system is more effective than the American "Patriot".
