Peskov: New era began in 2014

The beginning of a new era in history can be traced back to 2014, when “everything changed.”

Axar.az reports that Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov expressed this view.

He stated that it was not 2020, but 2014 that marked the turning point.

Peskov cited developments in Europe and what he described as the West’s role in the 2014 “coup d’état” in Ukraine as examples.

“And then a new reality began, one that required decisive action from us (referring to the annexation of Crimea — ed.). And our president made the corresponding decision, which required us, I would say, to conceptually change our approaches toward states we had previously considered partners. It required us to be more resolute in defending our interests and subsequently led to the launch of the special military operation,” he added.
