The European Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling, held from April 8–12 in Portimao, Portugal, concluded with outstanding results for Azerbaijani gymnastics.
Axar.az informs, citing Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, represented by 23 athletes across both junior and senior categories, Team Azerbaijan delivered exceptional performances throughout the competition.
Delivering strong and consistent performances in the qualification rounds, our gymnasts successfully progressed to numerous semifinals and finals across several disciplines. In individual trampoline gymnastics, Seljan Mahsudova achieved an impressive 4th place with a score of 56.550, while Magsud Mahsudov finished 6th with 60.080 points.
A historic milestone was reached in the team competitions, as both junior and senior squads advanced to the finals for the first time. The senior team delivered a strong and confident performance, finishing just shy of the podium in 4th place.
The tumbling discipline proved especially memorable. The Azerbaijani team delivered an outstanding performance in the final, earning a silver medal. In the individual event, Tofig Aliyev scored 29.300 points, securing the silver medal and marking his second consecutive European Championship silver – a remarkable accomplishment.
This championship will be remembered as a historic milestone for Azerbaijani gymnastics. For the first time in history, both junior and senior teams reached the finals in trampoline gymnastics team events, alongside a junior team final in double mini-trampoline.
In total, Azerbaijani gymnasts qualified for 13 out of 16 possible finals, placing them among the most successful nations at the Championships.
