Trump says Iran reached out for agreement

The U.S. and Iran are still engaged in talks as both sides work toward a diplomatic off-ramp, a U.S. official said.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran had contacted the administration earlier in the day and expressed a desire to reach an agreement.

Trump said: “They’d like to make a deal very badly.”

Separately, a U.S. official told CNN: “There is continued engagement between the U.S. and Iran and forward motion on trying to get an agreement.”

It should be noted that previous negotiations failed to produce a breakthrough, and it remains unclear whether future in-person talks will take place.
