Turkiye calls for continuation of US–Iran talks

Turkiye has said it considers the continuation of talks between the United States and Iran necessary and is working to facilitate future engagement between the two countries.

Axar.az reports that Omer Celik, spokesperson for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), speaking to journalists in Ankara.

“Everyone in the world followed the U.S.-Iran peace talks held in Islamabad. Unfortunately, in Islamabad, the first round of these peace talks could not be concluded. Our position here is that peace negotiations must continue. In order for this to be achieved, the ceasefire environment must be strictly preserved and maintained. It is not realistic to expect a result from such a heavy issue in a single round,” he said.

Celik added that the Strait of Hormuz issue, the nuclear program issue, the alleged nuclear weapons issue, as well as humanitarian losses and compensation issues arising from the war and aggression are subjects with many dimensions.
