Tokayev condemned Iran’s attack on Nakhchivan

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, condemned Iran’s attack on Nakhchivan.

Axar.az informs this was reported by the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan.

“Regarding Iran’s drone attack on the airport in Nakhchivan, President Tokayev has expressed his position. He strongly condemns this act committed against brotherly and allied Azerbaijan,” the statement said.

It was noted that Tokayev also expressed hope that the incident will be thoroughly investigated together with Iran, and that the conflict will be resolved through diplomatic means to prevent escalation in the region.

It should be recalled that on March 5, Iran carried out drone attacks on facilities in the Nakhchivan territory. One drone struck the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, and another landed near a school building in Shakarabad village.

The airport attack injured four civilians.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilu, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan reserves the right to deliver a retaliatory strike.
