Trump says Khamenei's son is a 'lightweight'

President Trump stated Thursday that he needs to be personally involved in selecting Iran's next leader, just as he was in Venezuela.

Axar.az reports, citing an exclusive report from Axios, that he acknowledged that Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is the most likely successor, but described him as “a lightweight” and said the outcome is unacceptable.

"They are wasting their time. Khamenei's son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment, like with Delcy [Rodriguez] in Venezuela," Trump said.

He added that he will not accept a new Iranian leader who continues Khamenei’s policies, warning that such continuity could force the U.S. back into war within five years.

“Khamenei’s son is unacceptable to me. We want someone that will bring harmony and peace to Iran.”
