Macron urges Iran to halt attacks and preserve peace

French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasizing the urgent need for diplomacy and regional stability.

Axar.az reports, according to Macron’s post on X, he reaffirmed that the safety and return of Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris, who are currently inside the French Embassy in Tehran, remain an absolute priority for France.

Macron also called on Iran to immediately halt its strikes against regional countries and to end the de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring freedom of navigation.

He expressed serious concern over Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs and other destabilizing activities in the region, noting that these are at the heart of the current crisis.

“A diplomatic solution is more necessary than ever to address these crucial challenges, halt escalation, and preserve peace,” Macron said.

Both leaders agreed to remain in contact.
