Starmer speaks with US President Trump on Middle East

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, less than a day after Trump renewed criticism of the British leader over what he described as insufficient support for the U.S. campaign against Iran.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, a spokesperson for Starmer’s office said in a statement: “The leaders began by discussing the latest developments in the Middle East and military cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States, including the use of Royal Air Force (RAF) bases to support the collective self-defence of partners in the region.”

Trump, in latest remarks on Truth Social, reacted to reports that Britain may deploy an aircraft carrier to the region, writing: “We don’t need people that join wars after we’ve already won!”

A spokesperson for Starmer’s office added that the prime minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to President Trump and the American people following the deaths of six U.S. soldiers.

The spokesperson said the two leaders also agreed to speak again soon.
