The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has urged American citizens not to travel to Iraq and advised those already in the country to leave immediately.

Axar.az informs, citing U.S. Embassy Baghdad's X account, it was stated that the U.S. Mission to Iraq continues operations despite the departure directive in order to assist U.S. citizens in Iraq.

"Iraq's Iran-aligned terrorist militias continue planning additional attacks against U.S. citizens and U.S.-associated targets throughout Iraq, including in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. Some entities associated with the Iraqi government continue to provide effective political, financial, and operational cover to these terrorist militias," the statement read.
