Pakistan army chief Munir flaged as potential risk to US

U.S. intelligence has warned the Trump administration that Asim Munir, commander of the Pakistan Armed Forces, could pose a threat to Washington’s interests in the Middle East.

Axar.az reports, citing Fox News, Munir is suspected of having personal ties with Iran’s senior military leadership, including former IRGC commanders Qasem Soleimani and Hossein Salami.

This could create a potential risk in the context of possible U.S. military involvement in a confrontation with Iran.

A report sent to the White House claims that the Pakistani military commander plays a double game in efforts to resolve the Middle East situation. The document also describes Pakistan as an unreliable ally of Washington due to Islamabad’s close ties with Tehran.

It should be noted that U.S. President Donald Trump had previously praised Asim Munir’s efforts in facilitating the first round of U.S.–Iran talks held in Islamabad.
