Putin, Trump discuss May 9 ceasefire, situation around Iran

Russian President Vladimir Putin considers U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran to be the right one.

Axar.az reports that Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov made the announcement following a phone conversation between the two leaders.

Ushakov said Putin believes the ceasefire extension could give negotiations a chance and help stabilize the overall situation.

He added that the Russian president warned about the “inevitable, extremely harmful consequences” if the United States and Israel resort to further military action against Iran, stressing that a potential ground operation would be “completely unacceptable and dangerous.”

The two leaders paid special attention to the situation in Iran and the Persian Gulf during their talks.
