Lavrov says West trying to pull Armenia away

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia and Armenia currently have close, but at the same time complicated relations, considering the West’s attempts to “bring Yerevan under its control.”

Axar.az reports that he said this at a press conference following his participation in the BRICS ministerial meeting in New Delhi.

“We have relations with Armenia, these relations are close and allied, but at the same time complicated, considering how the West is trying to bring Armenia, following some other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, under its control again, and to break Armenia’s mutually beneficial economic, trade and investment ties with its partners in the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union,” he said.
