Pashinyan sues Samvel Karapetyan over defamation

The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in his lawsuit against the leader of the “Strong Armenia” party, Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, is seeking financial compensation of 6 million drams (around $16,200) over claims that Karapetyan alleged he brought about a ton of hallucinogenic mushrooms from China and uses them before public appearances.

Axar.az informs, citing TASS, “[We request] that the defendant be ordered to pay the plaintiff 6 million drams as compensation for non-material damage caused by defamation,” the statement, published on the Datalex judicial acts website, says.

The statement also calls for Karapetyan to publicly retract his remarks “live, via video recording, in at least three media outlets with no fewer than 200,000 YouTube subscribers each.”

“If it is not possible to issue the retraction through the specified media outlets, it should be carried out under the same conditions via the ‘Strong Armenia’ YouTube channel (a channel belonging to Karapetyan’s party),” the document says.
