Trump: Iran charging no fees in Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has said that Iran informed Washington it is not imposing any fees or charges on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz and denied reports suggesting otherwise.

Axar.az reports that Trump made the remarks in a post on Truth Social.

“Iran has informed the U.S. that, despite troublemaking Fake News reporting to the contrary, there are ‘NO TOLLS, NO INSURANCE COSTS, & NO OTHER CHARGES OF ANY KIND BEING SOUGHT OR RECEIVED BY IRAN ON SHIPS TRAVELING THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ,’” Trump wrote.

He warned that if the information proved to be false, negotiations would be terminated immediately and stated that no money had been transferred or released to Iran by Washington.

Trump added that some Iranian funds currently under US control would be used to purchase agricultural products from American farmers and ranchers.

“We will be releasing some of their money, that is totally controlled by us, to our Farmers and Ranchers, for the purchase of Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, and more. Food is desperately needed in Iran, and we will be purchasing it for them exclusively from the United States,” Trump said.
