Iran airports to close during funeral ceremonies

Restrictions will be imposed on the operations of several airports in Iran in connection with the funeral ceremonies of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Axar.az informs, citing APА, that Iran Airports Company announced that Tehran's Mehrabad Airport will completely suspend operations on July 3 and 6.

It should be noted that Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's funeral ceremonies will be held on July 4–5 at the Mosalla complex in Tehran, after which his body will be transferred to the city of Qom. Following a memorial ceremony there, Khamenei will be laid to rest in Mashhad on July 9, in accordance with his will.

Khamenei was killed along with several close family members during a joint US-Israeli strike on Tehran on February 28. He was subsequently succeeded by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei.
