Turkiye expects key NATO decisions at Ankara Summit

We expect important decisions to be taken in Ankara regarding the future of NATO and the future shape of the global security architecture.

Axar.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the remarks while speaking to journalists aboard his return flight from Kazakhstan.

He said the NATO Leaders’ Summit, to be held in Ankara on July 7–8, is of significant importance in the alliance’s history.

"Recent developments both in our region and around the world have further increased the importance of the Ankara summit,” Erdogan stated.

Erdogan added that today’s world is fundamentally different from the era in which NATO was founded, stressing that “threats have become more complex, risks have diversified, and the global system has been eroded,” and that “the world has changed significantly.”

He underlined that fair burden-sharing, sincere cooperation, and a common understanding of security within NATO are essential for the alliance’s future, adding that Turkiye is ready to contribute to “a more determined NATO that is better prepared against threats.”
