Israeli strike kills Islamic Jihad commander in Baalbek

An Israeli guided missile struck shortly after midnight an apartment housing a Palestinian family on the southern outskirts of Baalbek, killing Islamic Jihad commander Wael Abdel Halim and his 17-year-old daughter Rama.

Axar.az reports, citing National News Agency, rescue and emergency teams continued searching through the rubble for survivors.

Meanwhile, cautious calm prevails across villages and towns in western and central sectors following the entry into force of a ceasefire at midnight, although Israeli drones continued flying over the Tyre region and explosions were heard in the western sector earlier today.

No significant return of displaced residents had been recorded, amid fears of renewed attacks during ceasefire periods.
