The Russian ambassador to Germany has been summoned to the Federal Foreign Office.
Axar.az reports, citing German media, the move comes in response to recent Russian attacks on Kyiv and threats directed at foreign embassies and organizations in the Ukrainian capital.
“Attacks on hospitals, schools & TV studios, calling on our embassy staff to leave Kyiv, Russia is doubling down on threats, terror & escalation. That is why today we summoned the Russian ambassador,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on X.
"We made clear to Russia today that we will not be intimidated by threats and will continue to support Ukraine wholeheartedly," the statement read.
The message was conveyed to the Russian diplomat by the Political Director of the Foreign Office.
The developments come amid continued Russian strikes on Kyiv, including drone and missile attacks, which have caused casualties and damage in the Ukrainian capital. Russian officials had also warned foreign diplomats and citizens to leave Kyiv, saying further strikes would target “decision-making centers and command posts.”
The European Union and several countries, including Norway, have also summoned Russian diplomats in response, calling the threats an “unacceptable escalation.”
