Peskov: EAEU summit won’t decide Armenia’s fate

It is not correct to say that the current EAEU summit will determine Armenia’s fate, and Yerevan will continue to participate in the bloc’s activities.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the remarks in response to journalists’ questions on whether Armenia’s future could be decided at the upcoming summit.

“No, absolutely not, that is incorrect to say.

Armenia remains in the EAEU. It will participate at the working level, but it will still take part in the event. The country’s top leadership is currently occupied with an election campaign. That is understandable,” Peskov said.

According to him, Armenia will continue its involvement in EAEU events despite the absence of its top leadership.

It should be noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not attend the meeting of EAEU leaders scheduled to take place in Astana on May 28–29.
