Vance: 60-day deadline for U.S.-Iran final deal begins

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said the 60-day period for reaching a final agreement between Washington and Tehran under a memorandum of understanding has officially begun.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, speaking at a White House briefing on Thursday, Vance said the timeline started on the day the agreement was signed, noting that the timing could be affected by the time difference with Iran.

“I would say the 60-day period officially started today,” Vance said. “It was signed late, and it may have even been signed technically, because of the time shift, I think it’s signed technically today, Iran time.”

The start of the countdown sets August 17 as the deadline for the United States and Iran to finalize a broader agreement.
