Iran-US war may not be completely over despite agreement

French President Emmanuel Macron said he does not believe the conflict between Iran and the United States is “completely over” despite a new agreement signed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Axar.az reports, citing Le Monde, Macron said the deal was preferable to continued fighting but warned that uncertainties remained.

“I do not believe that the war between the United States and Iran is totally over,” Macron said.

“Having an agreement is always better than war, especially when there can be risks of escalation,” he added. “We are entering a new phase — one of cooperation and dialogue, which is better than war.”

Macron said Trump’s decision to sign the agreement with Iran during a dinner at Versailles following the G7 summit in Evian was made “quite spontaneously.”

The French president’s remarks came after Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities and opening the way for further negotiations.
