Iran denies closure of Strait of Hormuz

Iran denies reports that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed.

Axar.az reports, citing IRNA, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei rejected reports by some media outlets claiming that the Strait of Hormuz had been blocked, calling them baseless.

Baghaei said that, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding on ending the war dated June 18, 2026, Iran’s armed forces have taken necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

“Shipping along this route is continuing,” he said.
