EU has lost €3 trillion by cutting Russian energy

The European Union's policy of economic "decoupling" from Russia has cost the bloc an estimated €3 trillion.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, Russia's Permanent Mission to the EU argued that the EU's decision in 2022 to reduce economic ties with Russia has imposed high costs on European businesses and consumers.

“The course toward economic ‘decoupling’ from Russia has come at a very high price for the EU. European companies and ordinary citizens have experienced the consequences of this policy, including sharp price increases, higher energy costs, a decline in living standards, the closure of industrial enterprises and the relocation of production outside the EU,” the mission said.

According to the mission, Europe's total losses from abandoning Russian energy resources are estimated at around €3 trillion.
