Russia urges Moldova to avoid escalation

Russia’s embassy in Moldova has urged the authorities in Chisinau to refrain from actions that could lead to escalation.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the embassy said recalling Moldova’s ambassador to Russia, Lilian Darii, to Chisinau signals an intention to further restrict relations between the two countries.

“The recall of Moldova’s ambassador to Russia, Lilian Darii, to Chisinau indicates an intention to further limit relations between the two countries. The lack of any information about the drone’s ownership, whether it was detected by radar, or its flight trajectory did not prevent the Moldovan side from hastily placing all responsibility on our country. The Moldovan leadership, under the influence of foreign forces, is looking for an excuse to further weaken the already limited relations between the two countries. Russia remains open to constructive dialogue based on mutual respect. For this, the Moldovan side must also demonstrate a willingness to engage,” the statement said.

It should be noted that on August 9, a UAV fell near the village of Crocmaz in Moldova’s Stefan Voda District. Moldova’s Foreign Ministry also recalled its ambassador to Russia, Lilian Darii, for consultations.
