Merz: Germany to respond to Russian hybrid threats

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has promised a swift response to hybrid threats from Russia, coordinated with international partners.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that he made the remarks in an interview with ARD on Sunday, August 30.

“We have reached broad consensus within the government on how to respond, and we will clearly explain this in the coming days,” the German chancellor said.

Asked whether Germany would actually be able to respond appropriately if Russia was behind the attack, Merz replied: “Let’s wait and see what an ‘appropriate response’ means.”

Merz stressed that although the response would come from Germany, it would be coordinated with the European Union and NATO partners.

“Our partners in the European Union and NATO will not be surprised,” the German chancellor explained.
