A 29-year-old man named Gleb attacked people at a church in Maryino, Moscow Region, with a shovel.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the man, who had psychological problems, initially wanted to touch and hug people arriving at the church.

However, he became angry after church staff called a psychiatric hospital and attacked people nearby with a shovel.

He also struck a paramedic who arrived at the scene several times with the shovel. According to church employee Mikhail Sergeyev, a passerby shot Gleb with a traumatic pistol, and he died at the scene from his gunshot wounds.

The injured person was hospitalized.
