By 2025, 57.8% of Azerbaijan's population will live in cities.

The UN report on urban development and level of urbanization declares.

According to the report, currently 54.6% of the population (5.25 mln people) live in cities and it is expected that in 2025, this number will amount to 57.8% (5.961 mln people).

According to the forecast, in 2025, 2.818 mln people (47.3% of the total urban population) will live in Baku.

At present, 2.374 mln people live in Baku.

Notably, the most urbanized countries in the world in 2025 will be Singapore, Iceland, Belgium, Uruguay.

To this period the most populous city in the world will be Tokyo - 37,876 mln inhabitants.
