I think that the provocation committed by Armenia in Tovuz is is related to Sofia Hagia stop.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Dr Theodore Karasik, an expert at the US Gulf Analytical Center, commenting on the recent events in Tovuz.

According to the political scientist, it is not accidental that the provocation took place immediately after the decision on Hagia Sophia:

"The attempt to open the ice of the frozen conflict at this level the next day is an example of a great geopolitical game. Those forces that are not happy with the change in the nature of this cultural monument contradict the vision of Yerevan. Of course, there are internal factors, but I see this issue as the main driving force. Opponents of the Turkish president's use of force wanted to send him a message. Religion and the pandemic lead to very ugly geopolitics," - he said.

"Armenia`s attack on Azerbaijan had several drivers. The first is is Sofia Hagia which is seen by many countries as insulting. More importantly, Armenia's attack is to unfreeze a frozen conflict and to create a headache in Turkey's strategic backyard.

The ability for both sides to escalate quickly distract Turkey from its strategic goals in Libya at the exact moment they're ramping up for a confrontation with The Haftar forces," - the expert added.
