Iran detains 15 Azerbaijanis protesting against Armenia

15 Azerbaijanis have been arrested in Iran in protest of Armenia's provocation in the direction of Azerbaijan's Tovuz region.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Elyar Turker, a representative of the National Awakening Movement of South Azerbaijan (GAMOH).

He added that the detainees were tortured by the police.

It should be noted that our compatriots living in Iran gathered in front of the Armenian Embassy in Tehran, the Azerbaijani Consulate in Tabriz and Atayi Street in Urmia. Iranian police and Revolutionary Guard Corps forces cracked down on the protest.

Doctors Ahmed, Yasemin Zafari, Rahim Sasani, Saadullah Sasani, Magsud Fazli Chiman, who took part in the action in Tabriz, were arrested.

Farid Hurshidi, Salar Taher Avshar and Shiva Mokarrad were detained in Urmia.

The whereabouts of Hamid Jabbari are unknown.
