A criminal case has been opened against Armen Sargsyan

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has opened a criminal case against President Armen Sargsyan for concealing the fact of dual citizenship.

Axar.az reports this information was shared by the head of the Armenian Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan on his Facebook page.

In March, 53 Armenian lawyers appealed to the Investigative Committee to conceal Sargsyan's dual citizenship. In their appeal, the lawyers claimed that Sargsyan's British citizenship was revoked later, not in 2011.

The Armenian Investigative Committee refused to open a criminal case on the basis of the lawyers' appeal.
