The first president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abolhassan Banisadr, has passed away.

Axar.az reports that he died in France at the age of 88.

It should be noted that he returned to Iran from France, where he studied with Benassad Khomeini. Benisadr, who held some positions here, was later elected the first president. He was impeached in the early days of the Iran-Iraq war after relations with Khomeini broke down, and he fled Iran to France.
