Armenia needs a new Basic Law.
Axar.az reports that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in his address to the nation on the occasion of Constitution Day.
"The current Constitution creates serious social and psychological tension among citizens. According to known circumstances, the citizens of Armenia today do not believe that the current Constitution reflects their views on the rules of life in society and the state. They see it as a document created and implemented by the ruling elite," he said.
The prime minister noted that the main problem lies not only in what is written in the Constitution, but also in its adoption:
"Armenia needs a new Constitution that the people will consider to be their own, reflecting their views on the state and relations with it."
Pashinyan emphasized that the issue of the new Constitution often becomes a subject of speculation.
