US authorities have arrested Ismael Sambada, nicknamed "El Mao", the leader of Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel, and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of another notorious cartel leader, Joaquin Guzman, nicknamed "El Chapo".
Axar.az informs that AP reported on this.
Sambada is said to be one of the world's most notorious drug traffickers, having secretly led the cartel's smuggling operations for a long time.
A Mexican federal official said Sambada and Guzman Lopez traveled to the United States on a private plane and were later arrested.
The US government has offered a reward of up to $15 million for information about Sambada, who has eluded law enforcement for many years.
It is noted that both men led the drug smuggling network to the United States for a long time.
