Lithuanian customs officials have intercepted shipments of military goods, including camouflage trousers and nets, on passenger trains traveling from Russia’s Kaliningrad to Moscow.

Axar.az reports that the discovery was made during inspections between Sept. 27 and Oct. 2, 2024, and the items were believed to be intended for Russian forces in Ukraine. As part of its staunch support for Ukraine, Lithuania plans to redirect these confiscated goods to Ukrainian forces as military aid.
This incident further highlights Lithuania's ongoing tensions with Russia, exacerbated by Lithuania's strong support for Ukraine since the start of the war. Another recent railway incident saw carriages traveling through Lithuania adorned with pro-Russian symbols, further straining relations between Vilnius and Moscow.
Lithuania, which declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1990, remains a vocal critic of Russian aggression, contributing to the sharp deterioration in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
