An Israeli airstrike hit the Syrian coastal city of Latakia early Thursday, triggering fires in the area, according to reports from the Syrian state news agency, SANA.

Axar.az reports that firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze as it spread through parts of the city.
The attack resulted in injuries to two people and caused damage to private properties. Syrian state television reported that the country’s air defenses engaged Israeli targets during the incident.
Israel has regularly targeted Iranian-linked sites within Syria over recent years. These strikes have intensified following a deadly attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Israeli soil on October 7, 2023.
