France has completed successful tests of its first kamikaze drones, with delivery to Ukraine expected in the coming weeks.
Axar.az reports that French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu emphasized the importance of these drones, noting their potential to enhance Ukraine's battlefield capabilities by complementing existing weapons like Caesar howitzers.
The Colibri drones, developed by Delair and KNDS, have a 5-kilometer range and cost under €20,000 per unit. This delivery marks the first 100 units from a planned fleet of 2,000 drones. These loitering munitions will play a critical role as Ukraine faces continued attacks from Russian-made Lancet drones and Iranian Shahed models.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, France has provided military aid worth $3.5 billion, including Caesar artillery systems and AMX-10 armored vehicles, with plans to send Mirage 2000 jets next year.
