CHP leader Ozgur Ozel has claimed that an assassination attempt will be made on the arrested former chairman of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Ekrem İmamoghlu.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Ozel said this during a speech at a CHP group meeting.

“Selcuk Tengioghlu, who attacked me, will come to IMM in January. He says that his cellmates in prison have been instructed. İmamoghlu will be killed. He said that I came to inform him. At that time, our people handed him over to the police. They said that this person made such a claim, you should deal with it. Now, with the speed of light, an arrest warrant has been issued for this person. In which cell did he sleep? Who were his friends? If these questions were not asked of him, let them take his statement again,” the party chairman added.
