General Karauz discusses the rocket incident in Kilis

The Turkish army has created a region that could be called a "buffer zone" in Syria, which has helped ensure the safety of Turkiye's border areas for a long time. However, a rocket fell in the Kilis area yesterday, causing a large fire. Why didn’t the Turkish army prevent this, and what can be done to avoid such incidents in the future?

In an interview with Axar.az, Turkiye's former military attaché in our country, General Yucel Karauz, stated that chaos and civil unrest continue in Syria.

The groups are in conflict with each other. Yesterday's incident occurred against the backdrop of the struggle between factions within the Syrian National Army, and a shell ricocheted into a minefield near the Turkish border, resulting in an explosion. Such incidents can happen at times, but that does not mean our army is not protecting Turkish territory," he stated.

According to the general, the Turkish army is determined to respond to every threat coming from Syria:

"Turkiye's military presence in Syria has the capability to conduct reconnaissance, observation, and take measures to eliminate possible impacts that may arise from Syria. These measures are continuously being implemented. Currently, due to the Israel-Palestine situation, people in Syria are also on alert and are fighting to prevent the country's fragmentation. What is happening at the border is a reflection of this."
