Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has announced the cancellation of his previous order to "take no prisoners" on the front lines.
Axar.az reports that Kadyrov shared this update on his Telegram channel, stating that he had received over two thousand messages from Ukrainian citizens:
"The letters, with various messages, come both from women whose relatives have been mobilized and from men at the frontline who are writing voluntarily. The reason in every appeal is the same: for those who are unwillingly sent to the trenches, surrendering to Russian soldiers is seen as the only way to survive. The 'take no prisoners' order has been revoked. Those who wish to surrender will be spared. I have no sympathy for the others."
Kadyrov originally issued the "no prisoners" command after a drone attack on the Russian Special Forces University in Chechnya, which is named after President Vladimir Putin.
