A Ukrainian spy preparing bombs for terrorist attacks in three Russian regions has been detained in the Kaluga region.

Axar.az informs that this information was reported by the Public Relations Center of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB).

"A Russian citizen born in 1976, who was manufacturing improvised explosive devices intended for terrorist attacks in the interests of Ukrainian special services in the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Tula regions, has been detained," the statement reads.

According to the investigation, Ukrainian special services recruited the individual in October last year with a financial reward. He set up a laboratory for producing explosives at his dacha. The bombs he prepared were handed over to other agents planning attacks during the presidential elections in March. The targets included the Police Department and Officers' Club buildings in Belgorod, two energy company offices in Bryansk, and a gas distribution substation in Tula.

It was also reported that seven Russian nationals were detained as part of the operation.
