Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is carrying out a process of "vilayetization" rather than westernizing the country.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Eduard Sharmazanov, the former vice-speaker of the Armenian parliament and political analyst.

He pointed to the activities of the Armenian community in Istanbul and noted that a similar future awaits Armenia:

"Pashinyan is sacrificing our country's sovereignty to Turkiye. In Istanbul, Armenians have churches and bishops. Christian holidays are celebrated there. In the Armenian churches located in this country, the Turkish flag and portraits of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk are hung. Armenia is slowly turning into a 'subject' of the Armenian communities in Istanbul."
