Turkiye starts building first national aircraft carrier

Turkiye has begun the production of its first domestically-built aircraft carrier.

Axar.az reports that this information was shared by Turkiye’s Ministry of National Defense.

It was stated that work has already commenced at the Istanbul Shipyard.

The aircraft carrier will feature two takeoff runways and one landing strip. It will measure 258 meters in length and 72 meters in width, with a planned carrying capacity of 60,000 tons. The ship will reach a minimum speed of 25 knots and will be able to cover 10,000 nautical miles without refueling.

It was also noted that this aircraft carrier will be larger than the previously produced "TCG Anadolu.
