Independent journalist Mukesh Chandrakar was brutally murdered in India.

Axar.az reports that NDTV released the information.

The body of the man, who went missing on New Year’s Day, was found in a cowshed, covered with cement.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, two of whom are relatives of the victim. One of the suspects was apprehended at an airport.

According to the initial investigation, the journalist had lunch with his relatives, during which a dispute arose. The assailants reportedly beat him to death with iron rods and then buried his body in cement to cover up the crime. They also took his phone and the murder weapon.

The autopsy revealed that Chandrakar sustained severe injuries to his head, chest, back, and abdomen from blunt force trauma. Police suspect the murder was premeditated.

The Editors Guild of India expressed concern over the journalist’s killing, linking it to his recent investigations into corruption in road construction projects.

The Guild called on authorities to ensure the safety of journalists and to conduct a thorough investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable.
