Over 400 French schools to remain closed amid protests

More than 400 schools across France will remain fully or partially closed on Monday as student protests and blockades continue, the Education Ministry said.

Axar.az reports, citing TF1 News, that Education Minister Edouard Geffray said 400 to 500 schools would remain closed amid renewed calls by student organisations for further mobilisation.

According to the report, more than 400 schools, including 168 in the Ile-de-France region, would be affected.

Geffray also said 24 schools had been “vandalised or set on fire” since the start of the protests, while 78 education workers had been injured, most of them by people from outside the schools.

The protests have disrupted hundreds of schools across France in recent days, with authorities reporting thousands of arrests since the movement began.
