Two killed, 35 injured in Georgia block party shooting

Two people were killed, and 35 others were injured in a shooting at a neighborhood block party in Vienna, Georgia, the United States, early Sunday, state law enforcement officials said.

Axar.az reports, citing the Associated Press, that more than 1,000 people were gathered at the event when more than 50 shots were fired in at least two locations about a block apart, Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy said.

Deputies were patrolling the party around 1:25 a.m. when gunfire erupted. Officers found two men, aged 20 and 23, dead at the scene with gunshot wounds, according to the county coroner.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said multiple people were taken to several hospitals. Officials did not specify how many of the 35 injured had been shot or provide details on the severity of their injuries.

Authorities have not identified any suspects or a motive. The investigation is ongoing.
